The Sims 4 is going free to play

Electronic Arts confirmed that The Sims 4 is going free to play.

The Sims 4 base game is about to go free to play on PC and consoles including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That’s according to EA and Maxis.

What has been confirmed is that all players who have purchased the base game of The Sims 4 will receive the Desert Luxe Kit for free. Also, EA Play players will receive new bundles of the game. An explanation of the new model is planned for the upcoming Behind The Sims Summit on October 18, the same day The Sims 4 will become free to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Of course, EA makes most of its money from the seemingly endless supply of Sims 4 expansions, game packs, stuff packs, and room kits to decorate your virtual homes. It’s actually surprising that they haven’t done this yet.
