Shenmue 3 is on sale for $7.99 on PS4. The deal is for a physical, boxed copy of the game.
Shenmue 3 is the first new game in the action-adventure series since 2001. Ys Net is the game’s developer. Yu Suzuki returns as the game’s director.
The project was funded through Kickstarter. The developers raised over $6 million from fans during the initial crowdfunding campaign.
The budget for the third game is significantly smaller than the original Shenmue on Dreamcast, which had a production and marketing budget of over $50 million. At the time, it was the most expensive video game ever created.
