Donkey Kong Country Returns first came out on the Wii back in 2010. From the developers at Retro Studios, who also brought us the Metroid Prime series on GameCube, it is the first game in the Donkey Kong Country side-scrolling series since the SNES.
In 2013, Donkey Kong Country Returns was re-released on the Nintendo 3DS as Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Aside from being able to play the game on the go for the first time, stereoscopic 3D was also added.
Although it launched for $39.99, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is now part of the Nintendo Selects program, which means that its retail price has dropped to $19.99. Amazon currently has Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D on sale for $12.45.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D has received positive reviews. It is averaging an 83 out of 100 on Metacritic. Our sister site, Game Freaks 365, called it a “fun game” with “more flaws… than with the original.”
